Dear Jennifer Granholm,
Although I am not a driver, I feel that gas prices in the state of Michigan are extremely high and it is ridiculous how much money the residents of Michigan have to pay for it. Also, a lot of car companies are coming out with new cars and trucks that cost a fortune just to fill up. All in all, the prices on gas should go down instead of keep coming up.
First, Gas prices are extremely high and it is ridiculous how much money the residents of Michigan have to pay. I have also noticed a pattern in gas prices that every holiday gas prices go up. The only reason I believe the gas prices are going up every holiday is because the people in charge of gas know a bunch of families travel and visit people around these times and that’s the only way they can get money. I think the government should step in and lower the price of gas. Gas is taking the prices up to a whole new level. For example, instead of $2 per gallon the gas is $4; why is this? I have actually seen people put 50, almost 60 dollars, in their car when they really should only have to put in 20 or 30. Gas stations have even started to make air cost .75; that’s not right. It seems like .75 is a lot of money for air and it use to cost .25, or even nothing. Gas stations are getting out of control; someone needs to put a stop to this.
Second, car companies are coming out with all of these new cars and trucks. Some of the new cars that go so fast they burn out $20 dollars just like that. Trucks and SUVs are becoming more popular and they cost a fortune to put gas in. I feel that the prices on gas should decrease instead of continue to increase.
In conclusion, gas prices should decrease instead of increase. For many reasons gas is making people not want to be on the roads any more. Also, prices of gas are way too high and they need to be brought down. I hope prices go down when it is time for me to start driving; I know they’re not so I am not even going to have my hopes up so soon it might get even higher.
